| More Info: | Ujima Enterprises, Incorporated and the WMU Division of Multicultural Affairs, will be sponsoring the 9th Annual Juneteenth Celebration. The program features the local Ujima Afrikan Dance Troupe, and Ngoma Za Amen Ra of MUSE, Inc. from Detroit, Vee Vee’s African Restaurant from Chicago, and a preview scene from “Conspiracy”, a play by Von Washington. The celebration commemorates the emancipation of African-Americans with the Liberator Awards to exceptional leaders in the field of education, The Sankofa Award for Outstanding Community Service, and the Pempansie Award for dedicated parenting. This year’s Liberator Award goes to Dr. Molefi Asante, Ms. Patricia Williams, and Mr. Willie Watson. Dr. Harvey Myers and Dr. Sharon Anderson will receive Sankofa Awards and Pempansie Awards will be presented to Mr. Robert Carter & Ms. Pearline Haley; Mr. & Mrs. Jerrold and Octavia Webb: Mr. and Mrs. Atiba and Veronica McKissack. Tickets are on sale now at Miller box office Monday through Friday from11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and at the Epic Center box office only Monday through Friday June 23 to 27 from 6 p.m. to 7:30p.m.; Saturdays June 21 and 28 from 3p.m. to 5p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors, students with ID, children over five years.
